"Hello Geert, thank you very much for the Chopin compliment! Probably you put your finger on a weak spot here, and thank you for that. Indeed I wanted to create some "pause in the center of the storm", which would also allow to get to some…"

"Hello Jan, Although it is more modern, I find something rather Chopinesque in this piece, particularly in the first section. This is meant as a compliment, since I consider Chopin to be the first composer who really discoverd the essence of the…"

"Hi, I am totally in love with classical music, and I liked your sonata! It seems to have a clear texture, which is also something I really like. The voice leading is clear and and plastic. Nice piece! Jan"

Jan-Frederik Carl replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion The Hiker
"Hello Gerd, a song which shows your fine talent! Somehow it has a folk touch. I don't know how the song sounded before, but I think the cello comes just at the right time when the piece needs some kind of change. And it works well together with…"

Jan-Frederik Carl replied to Nigel Campbell's discussion New Piano piece - Should I add strings?

I am a (relativley fresh) hobby composer and work on contempary music as well as pop songs, mostly for piano.

Although I have been interested in composition for a very long time, only recently I decided to really go for it and to finally subordinate my other big love, literature, to it ;)

I am regularly practicing the piano and have taken violin lessons as well as attending a choir for several years.
