Saul Gefen replied to Saul Gefen's discussion Sonata for Piano in 3 Movements
"Hi David, Thanks.

Well, it certainly can be called a Fantasia, but this piece had three parts and a logical connection between the movements, so I decided to call it a Sonata, a rather very free form of a Sonata I might add. "

  • I didn't ask him this question, if you want you can ask him yourself, and if you don't have his email let me know...
  • Saul, I didn’t see your question. I was able to get the same domain because it was available when Gavin closed the forum. It was blind luck. Did Gavin indicate that he would give permission to Ning to release the forum content to us, if it indeed still archived on Ning’s servers? Even if the content is still there, I don’t think they’ll provide it without Gavin’s consent.
  • Well that's exactly what I told him, I said the drive was still on, so why did he end it, I think there is more to the story...
  • Is that it? But I thought he was in the middle of a funding drive, and there was still a month left (it was supposed to last till the end of September, IIRC?). Why did he suddenly pull the plug before the deadline?
  • Teoh,

Thanks, well I sent Gav an email asking to know what happened. He told me that it was a financial problem, people didn't pay to support the site so he ended it.

There could be other reasons maybe, but I don't know what they are.

    Regards,

    Saul
  • Hey Saul, good to see you return. You were pretty regular on the old forum; do you have any idea what happened to it before its disappearance? Why did Gavin suddenly pull the plug, apparently without any warning? Was there some kind of controversy or dispute that made him decide to quit?
  • Yes, thanks.
It's good to see that the forum got back, how did you get to have the same website address?

    Regards,

    Saul
  • Welcome Saul. I remember you from years ago on the forum. Mainly piano music, right?
