About Me (MUST be more than 10 words to be approved):
I am an orchestral and Jazz composer, and performer (saxophones) of every style of music under the sun ;) I have much experience as a composer and I do it full-time, however I am in the "breaking in" phase of film and TV music. I would dearly love any thoughts or advice for moving forward, and any compliments and criticizms of my music. Mostly I hope you enjoy my stuff and that its compelling enough to warrant more visits

My new website ChrisAlpiar.com

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 3:12pm 4 Comments

Hey everyone!

I am about to release my new website at http://www.chrisalpiar.com

Its new for me as my main website until now has been a total focus on me as a composer for media music and I didnt want to mingle my Jazz career (mostly as the stigma of saxophone in media music is one that I want to shake as a writer) so as I am re-emerging as a Jazz solo artist I am finding the need to have someplace for people in the Jazz…

Integrating LASS 2 as a new user: My template

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 4:15pm 1 Comment

Previously posted in the AudioBro forums (makers of LASS). This is mostly intended as a helpful view for other composers installing LASS 2 into their setup, but might be useful for others as well:

So it was a pain getting it setup and template worked out. Lots of stuff that isnt made obvious in the documentation that really hung me up. But I have made breakthroughs on Monday and got rolling so I thought I would share my working setup. Previously I have used VSL as my string go…

Sonivox Broadway Lites (LE version of Broadway Big Band)

Posted on August 10, 2011 at 7:34pm 3 Comments

Just been messing around with this new lib for me, trying to get under my hat the VERY advanced and complex system they have for keyswitch triggering. Its miles past any lib I have seen out there in terms of what it can do for you. Anyway this is a REAL quick unmixed output. I did spend time working on keyswitch editing but thats about it, otherwise all audio is coming through one stereo channel, with one reverb and thats it. Ill be working on this and reposting as time goes on the next few…

Pro Composer, PART A. Music Business and Law, STEP ONE: the DMCA

Posted on June 16, 2011 at 1:07pm 1 Comment

Yea, I understand it's a lot of legal jargon and our entire industry has been crafted over the last century to be completely confusing and to obfuscate paths to enlightenment for the layman, usually the composers, songwriters and musicians who slave away at this art and craft. But try. REALLY try hard to understand this stuff. Understanding the DMCA is the very first step to understanding what this new world is all about and understanding how you may or may not make a living from your music…

Trane's Pain, that's what I call music. Now I've mixed it a little louder for my own pleasure and I'm listening to it now.

Hi Chris. A questioon to you as one of the administrators of the site. Has there recently been a change to the site whereby you have to be logged in in order to see members' pages? It seems now that the only way you can get to a member page is to be logged in. I sometimes have friends, who are not members, go to my page to hear something I just composed, but that may no longer be possible unless they sign up. But it wouldn't make sense for thrm to sign up since they don't compose. Thanks. Bob Hunter
