Kristofer Emerig replied to John Driscoll's discussion Udio AI - Short Opera Scene in the Style of Richard Strauss
"This is fascinating; how much, if any, musical direction or input did you provide?
I've contended for some time that AI will eventually render all of us artistically obsolete. Thousands upon thousands of examples of superior art, created by great…"

Kristofer Emerig replied to Ivor's discussion Is a score submission appreciated or even necessary
"For those who play an instrument, the ratio of time lost creating a viable score is even much more severe. A musical score is essentially an abstract set of instructions, a blueprint, meant to prescribe, with varying layers of granular precision,…"

Kristofer Emerig replied to HS Teoh's discussion "Standard" paper sizes for orchestral (conductor's) score?
"I like 11 x 17, sometimes called tabloid, but I'm not a conductor. They might need a much larger format. But then again, is the conductor really reading notes on a finite level, or merely gisting the overall rythmic flow and pace as melodic contours…"

Kristofer Emerig replied to John Driscoll's discussion Songs for Departing - FEEDBACK REQUESTED
"Thanks David. It's been addressed. Again, please feel free to message me with abusive behavior on our site. It will be addresssed as soon as I become aware of it. I appreciate your feedback, as usual."

Kristofer Emerig replied to John Driscoll's discussion Songs for Departing - FEEDBACK REQUESTED
"I never would, nor could for that matter, write this. However, I did listen intently., so you've met the  minimal threshold of all composers - capturing the attention of seasoned ears. Although directly comparable to neither, Tuba Miriam and Nixon…"

Kristofer Emerig replied to Ken Lindner's discussion Just for listening enjoyment: Under Sail
"Hi Ken. Just click the "music" tab in the navigation bar (at the top of every page in the forum), then click the "create playlist" at the top right. It's in bright yellow font, so you can hardly miss it."

"Ah, Colonel Zanders.. I have no idea how he managed to oversee the BSO's sublime performance of Beethoven's 5th without betraying his secret recipe.

"Intentionally so.. I've set it that way, and members are encouraged to reach out if they accept the odd friend request and then immediately receive a suspicious private message. Spam accounts, it seems, will usually reveal themselves promptly.

Kristofer Emerig replied to Kristofer Emerig's discussion Accept or decline membership?
"I would absolutely agree with that stricture, except for the fact that many fine, legitimate composers are not at all savy about forum navigation. I often have members leaving responses to my comments, requests, or inquiries, on their own feed,…"

Kristofer Emerig replied to Kristofer Emerig's discussion Accept or decline membership?
"I'm more the "man in the streets" type, myself. I was really hoping to see Levi Strauss make a showing here. Plus, I have some nagging questions about the structural logic of Death and Transfiguration."

"Ah yes, good catch. I completely overlooked Ronald Morris, as the innocuous sounding name didn't present any red flags. You can always drop me a message as you notice these things - in particular, accounts who participate in no discussions, offer no…"

Bio

I've striven to compose objects of grotesque beauty and uncanny humour, bound by precise, methodical rigour. If I've occasionally succeeded in brief moments, consider me deranged or extraordinarily lucky.

  • Hi, I cannot read this small chars...  Is there a way to make these bigger? How?
  • Thanks for saying hi Buddy! I've just posted my first thread with a mixing question so hopefully someone will get back to me soon :)
  • Thanks, Kristofer. My apologies if I'm missing the obvious but are there instructions somewhere on the site that tell how to post a piece in Analysis and Critique?
  • Thank you for the welcome, Kristofer!
  • Kristofer- I just listened to your entire playlist. Your perpetual motion writing…. I love it. It’s serious, quirky, energetic, and engaging. I really couldn’t stop listening. I have never heard anything like this although the Bach pedigree is obvious. Fantasy X had me smiling in those few moments when the music seemed to pause while the player earnestly seeks the next idea. A few questions if you have the time to answer: (1) did you use alternate tuning in any of these works? (2) were any of these recorded live? I heard enough of the harpsichord mechanical noises to make me think yes, but then the ornaments in Nautilus were pristine to the point where you either majorly keep your hands in shape, or else it’s midi.

I just finished listening to Donald Joyce’s recording of Philip Glass (organ)… I was making comparisons while enjoying your own Organ Fantasy on F.

Thank you for posting this selection. I so enjoyed the listen. -Ray
  • You should close the membership of Stella Abudheir. It's a scammer. https://www.reddit.com/r/ask/comments/dhnsbb/i_got_a_random_email_f...
  • new member Stella Abudheir is very suspicious in my book. She has sent the message below to every member I checked. Don't know if there's anything you can do about it?

    Good Day,

How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on:(mrsstellaabudheir@gmail.com ) for the full details.

    Have a nice day

    Thanks God bless.

    Stella.
  • Kris I seemed to have inadvertently hogged the home page with my musical funnies images. I thought they would be embedded one page behind the thread title and not as part of it. Feel free to delete the thread for good housekeeping if you wish.
  • Kristofer, I added "City Life - December" to the list. That might elevate your mood :-)
  • Kris, is there a way to upload image files, jpegs and the like?
