"Hi William, I have listened to it a couple of times and looked through the score. I found all ideas presented very musical and full of development potential. But nothing in its final form as yet. I also think it is very "pianistic", but in…"

"I tend to be a "slow listener". Some people can hear a piece once and tell you all about the structure of the piece, the themes used and how they were developed, etc. I listened once more and this time I could more clearly make out the…"

"Hi Antonio, Thanks for the comments. I'll be adjusting the speed as I check how it feels when I play it. Sound is just Sibelius midi, converted to mp3 which smooths out the sound. The piece is roughly in A B A Coda form. The A section finishes…"

"Hi, William, I'd love to help and I'm not sure how. This is just the start of a third movement in some larger piece, so there's a lot of context missing. What I hear sounds interesting. I agree with Greg that it's too fast,…"

"Re: OO, I've learnt long ago not to trust critic reviews. Critics operate upon the bandwagon principle because they WANT to look like a good critic. So what another apparent good critic will say, another wannabe good critic will say, so on, and…"

"In my opinion everything was handled clumsily. R2-D2 having the important part of the map and just deciding to sleep for a while? That was just lazy writing to solve the partial map problem, which in turn was lazy writing to extend that plot point…"

"I thought it sucked. It was basically a rehash of old ideas and scenes from the previous six films. There was no creativity concerning the plot. The 'progressiveness' of the film only half worked, as the offhand sexist comments to Ray…"

"Except from the faxt that it stops quite suddenly (I expect it is not finished yet) it is in my opinion a very good setup. I like the melody line and my favorite was 0:49-0:52, great work. As far as I am concerned, you did a good job."

Greg Brus replied to William Hu's discussion [WIP] Piano Concerto 3rd mvt.
"I think it indeed needs to be fast, just not too fast. If it goes too slow, it will lose the energy... but if it's rushed the energy won't have any time to punch the listener in the ear, it will just fly past. Give it a bit more grounding,…"

"re Greg: You're right, this is probably a bit too quick. However when I play the piece it tends to lose a bit of the energy when it's too much slower. I'll adjust the tempos slightly for the next time. re: Gregorio: Thanks! I'm…"

"Hi William, This is a lot of fun, - the bravura sense of it reminds me as bit of Liszt -- and some of the chord changes is reminiscent of Shostakovich… Shostakovich's piano concerto #2 in Fmajor is in kinda a bravura style as well, - and…"

[WIP] Piano Concerto 3rd mvt.

Finally making some progress on this project. In year 11 and 12 at my school advanced musicians are allowed to perform a concerto movement with the combined (with sister school) orchestra. It's probably a narcissistic gesture but a while ago I got really set on the idea of writing my own for the performance... which means I have 1.5-2.5 years left! Here's what I have so far of my concept draft. It's just the two piano reduction for now - when I'm done with this and I know what I want the music…See More
