"I like the basic idea of the nMac Pro, it's just paying a $1000 for dual GPUs that as yet don't do anything for audio work. If you're also working with video then it makes more sense. Apple talked about OpenGL at the last WWDC but so…"

Playing with the New Mac Pro

I've had the machine for a week and have finished installing stuff ( well nearly). It's a lovely piece of engineering that's for sure.Anyway, I thought I'd put it through it's paces and get to know Logic X which I couldn't run on my old 1,1 Mac Pro. So far I'm lovin' it, even if my bank balance isn't!!I made a little video of me switching it on cos it's cool when it lights up!! :)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdUIWfoCf7ASee More

Michael T replied to Jenny Leigh Hodgins's discussion Mac Pro vs iMac?
"Yes, I'm sure that will be fine. The external doesn't have to be SSD, it could be an ordinary HDD provided it's at least 7200 RPM. Some are 5400 RPM which is too slow for audio work but Ok just to archive/backup to.  I sometimes…"

About Me (Must include biographical information about you as a composer):
I'm a bit of an all rounder when it comes to writing. I like moving between genres and styles which has served me fairly well over the years. I think I have a sound grasp of the techniques of composers from antiquity to the present. I'm not a great fan of atonal music although I've written some. Earning a living means having to work in the commercial sector but I would love more opportunities to compose for large ensemble and for the concert hall.
