"This probably took about 4-5 hours in total. It would take a lot longer if I was using more than two voices. However if I were to add a third voice now it would not take long at all, as the two other parts are already defined within the skeleton.…"

"Hi Markus,  Thank you for the Gallant schemata.  It clarified the schemata idea very well. Your post has inspired me to create my own atonal schematas and create a Minuet. Very interesting. Thanks a lot."

"Hi Markus, I liked the 8 + 12 bars configuration. Also the harmonic skeleton is pleasant. Maybe it would be better if it is played a bit slower. Of course some local tempo envelope alterations would be nice.  Otherwise it sounds a bit…"

Theme and Variations for Keyboard (Galant Pedagogy)

Hello,I have been collaborating with a friend on another forum on a project centered on galant pedagogy. We came up with a simple structure that follows well known schema (illustrated below) and tasked ourselves to create a theme with variations. I have composed 4 variations. The form is a minuet, with a standard 8 bar A section, with an expanded B section that accommodates the main theme before closing in the home key.The schematic structure is as follows:AMeyer (Theme)Modulating PrinnerBx2…See More

Markus Boyd replied to Markus Boyd's discussion Sonata for Organ in 3 movements
"Yes. It is really a keyboard sonata. Johann Christian Bach wrote some organ sonatas (without pedals) for four hands and I would say that this work contains more influences from him than Mozart. I am less inclined however to attribute my influences…"

"Mozart on the organ! Fun! Did Mozart write anything for the organ? Also: is it a conscious decision not to use pedals?"

Sonata for Organ in 3 movements

Hi all,Here is an sonata I have composed for a friend who is a local organist. It is his intention to play it at one of our churches on the Isle of Man.The structure and style of the work is characteristic of early sonata form seen around 1760-1770 mark, especially the third movement in a 3/8 time which was common during that time. From the 1770s, symphonic form in particular adopted a 4 movement structure, usually with the addition of a minuet as the 3rd and a 2/4 presto as the 4th.If anyone…See More
