'Sling for a Stone' is work in progress. This cue emerged from the perspective of a 'Women in Troy' being left behind while her husband went off to war and then evolved to include all "War wives" in similar circumstances. The evolution further is still uncertain perhaps from the soldier's perspective.

This version has been a result of a collaboration with a composer for whom I have much admiration and respect.

About Me:
Early sparks, struck during classical childhood music theory and piano lessons in my native Belgium, smoldered until my final year of Drama School in South Africa. An assignment, to write, direct and stage an entire production, ignited my musical flame, lead me to compose the musical 'Spiders'. This earned me a distinction and favorable critical approval, but importantly, lit up the realisation that my first synthesizer, received as a 21st birthday gift, was a key to unlock the music inside me.

All around me the sounds of Africa, the rhythms, beats and the people openly singing while they worked, had permeated my being. With my trial copy of an early version of Cakewalk, delivered on a new PC, I was introduced to the joys of being able to sequence my music and create, modify and refined the music that seemed to naturally spill from within.

The frenetic sounds of the African bush at dawn and lazy drone of a watering hole in the midday sun seem to percolate within me, fusing freely with the early Baroque music I loved, the Opera I woke up to whilst growing up, and the stark sounds of club music I danced to, as one does.

PC improved, synthesizers acquired and cakewalk upgraded, crafted the way I worked and heightened my passion. Teaming up with a post production sound engineer earned me commissions to compose music for first one, and then several, television programs, wildlife documentaries and corporate videos. When several hours of music were broadcast on SABC, being paid and earning royalties, the realisation dawned on me that I could possibly earn a living doing something that I loved.

My husband's job took us to the USA where I was exposed to a different view of the music industry, whilst working in a music recording and production studio just outside San Francisco. Amongst other things, I saw music composed for singing Christmas trees. I acquired more gear.

Same husband, different job, landed us in the UK. An initial course in media music composition, through Music for the Media, got the ball rolling again. I am learning to play violin, currently working my way through the Associated board of the Royal Schools of music exams, having completed the theory exams.

Several releases of Cakewalk and Sonar later I finally converted to Mac and Logic Pro 8. Best thing I have ever done!

Woah. I'm new on this platform and have just had a look around and found your page. "Sling for a stone" is absolutely stunning! The song creates a thoughtful but at the same time an exciting atmosphere. And the guitar tells the story...great!

"Sling for a stone" is a true favourite. I loved the tone and the shifting in melody from acoustic to bigger orchestral sounds. It's quite heroic in nature, and a little bit of western in there too.

your sling for a stone, is sounding more, texturally, as something deep and meaningful, as in zimmer's gladiator, where the music, is a character...
