About Me:
Hello, everyone. Pleased to be part of this wonderful community! A little about myself: I'm currently a student, pursuing both a BSc. in zoology and a BMus. in musicology, although the latter is where my true passion lies. I don't believe any genre of music is "better" or "worse" than any other - a song written with personal sentiment holds just as much artistic value as a carefully crafted symphony, distinctions between so-called "accessible" and "inaccessible" music have nothing to do with their degree of meaningfulness, because in the end, we're all humans just trying to express something.

I've dabbled in composition a few times in the past, but only recently have I really composed anything longer than two minutes. My sentimental streak likes to write melodic songs, but I'm also experimenting with modern art music ideas. That being said, I have no idea how to properly record real instruments/mix/customize music tracks, so you'll just have to deal with MIDI instruments inputted note-by-note on Finale..

Hey, you are welcome. Thanks, I agree that my music has a lot of potential.
Electronic effects? These are just synthesized sounds. My synthesizer of choice is the Clavia Nord Modular (classic). An example would be the continuous raspy sound that slowly evolves in the background of Hank Searches X. The Modular uses a PC XP editor to design patches. There are also thousands of patches free on the internet for this synth. I believe the odd mechanical sound at the beginning of Separation Anxiety, was an Acid loop. I am selling my Nord Modular Micro, for $350, including the software. (I upgraded to the same unit, but keyboard version.) Many synths, and especially the Modular, are capable of producing very original sounds. Maybe I'll post a few of the patches I've invented. As far as developing compositions, that's an area I want to focus on. I'll probably extend the ideas of Equinox into a second movement which will use orchestral samples.

I agree about your natural sense of melody and time/space. There are many flavors and 'sentimental' is as valid as any other genuine emotion. I enjoyed 'Apparition' too. A good place to learn about recording is a newsgroup named rec.audio.pro although I have not been there lately. I hope it is still good. And there are forums for recording and software like Logic. Once you learn the technical stuff, your ideas will surely blossom.

Hey Leonore, Thank you for the feedback! Very soothing piece you got on your page, I really enjoy the progression and creativity behind it, very nice! :)

Unfortunately I wont be able to put out a CD yet, except I'd sign up for a soundtrack which is probably not going to happen anytime soon.

Again, very nice piece. Wish you the best!

I think your music work merits more than what you actually think. I think you have a natural musical talent and a inherent sense direction of melody. That is more than half the battle... a person does not get that with an education...one is born with that...its called talent, its called sensitivity, and its called musicality...without having heard your music, I knew you were artistic from what you wrote on your page....yes you do need to learn technique...but that you will acquire with time and hard work....you see, composing is like learning and instrument....you must practice and practice, and you must work very hard to get what you really want out of your art...discovering your message in music is a wonderful self discovery process....enjoy the ride!

Fernando

BTW- I listened to your song, and the more I hear it...the more I like it....

Thank you for your comments on my music. The piano pieces I write directly on Finale and I use Logic Pro for arranging and mixing. I did not hear any music in your page. Do you have any you can share...?.
