John Driscoll replied to John Driscoll's discussion End of Act 2 of My Opera
"Thanks, Ingo and Bob!  Ingo, on my priority list is to make a website for the opera that would include the libretto and mockups--but I haven't done that yet.  No planned performances, but as the title of the opera attests…"

Bob Morabito replied to John Driscoll's discussion End of Act 2 of My Opera
"I found this music to be MAGNIFICENT..truly moving, and inspired music...simply MAGNIFICENT! :) To attempt to write an opera is a serious undertaking, beyond the reach of most of us..and to succeed as well as you have done here is truly…"

"Hi John, this is great, I like it a lot. You have found a nice blend of tonal and "modern" sound to my ear. Do you have the libretto posted anywhere yet?  Is there any chance of a performance or recording of this? Good work!"

John Driscoll replied to Bob Porter's discussion Is it harder to write fast music, or slow music?
"Hey Bob, I didn't mean I wrote a piece for piano.  Just that I sketched down the notes/voices/lines on 4-6 staves, with piano playback for simplicity's sake--it actually wouldn't work very well for piano!"

John Driscoll replied to Robert Fisher's discussion Does this work as a solo?
"I think this works fine as a solo piano piece, but I would say that, even within your somewhat minimalistic aesthetic, there might be an opportunity for a bit more harmonic modulation.  In particular, at 2:09 you seem to come a rather final…"

John Driscoll replied to Bob Porter's discussion Is it harder to write fast music, or slow music?
"Just to follow up on Mike's point.  I think this is an especial concern for composing at the computer.  Because of the easy, unlimited playback, as I work through a piece, I often find that my brain has conceived a much greater…"

John Driscoll replied to gregorio X's discussion String quartet #1 movement 2 (re-edit)
"Very nice, Gregorio!  Don't forget col legno either. Seemed like a couple moments in the 1st movement could be suited to that. I somewhat disagree with Mike about the length of the 1st movement.  I think you could follow-up in later…"

John Driscoll replied to Jason Sioco's discussion Where to buy the following Orchestral Scores?
"If you are looking for physical scores, I believe these are all available as Dover editions (usually the cheapest).  Just google the piece + "Dover" on Amazon."
