Interested to know what people think of this piano solo. It's pretty manic with frequent time signature changes.I made a video to go with this as well, but might be distracting if trying to judge the…Continue

"I guess I wasn't aware of that.  Just my impression upon listening to the piece, without any thoughts as to genre.  But it's just one opinion and there's no reason you should follow it. On another thread I mentioned cellist…"

"Sorry no, didn't mean slower overall, just more variation in the tempo.  That probably means slowing down some moments.  There's already some variation, but I feel a bit more could help."

"Very nice and well-played.  Nothing to critique here.  Agreed with the beautiful & sad thing, and reminds me a little of a piece of mine called Stitches, although yours is more complex:…"

"This piece is quite nice.  Could maybe alter the tempo a bit more to breathe more life into it, but you do do this already in parts.  This is a virtual piano?  Can I ask what piano sound you're using?"

Disconnectica replied to Jan-Frederik Carl's discussion Whirlwind
"It's interesting, but hard to latch onto something when listening to it.  I think you'd benefit greatly from leaving MuseScore behind and using a proper DAW so you have better control over note velocity and tempo changes and a better…"

"Just embedded the latest version in the OP.  This one uses a new piano sound, and filters to make it sound more "wonky" and maybe creepy.  I think this one has much more character."

Disconnectica replied to Disconnectica's discussion The Remaining Rag (ragtime & boogie piano solo)
"I just updated the track embedded in the OP to  my latest version.  I'm using a new piano sound now which is much better I think, made a few note changes here and there, and made use of filters to give it an old-piano sound as well as…"

Disconnectica replied to Disconnectica's discussion Somewhere Always (psychedeleic 60s-ish song)
"Thanks for the feedback Gav.  I wasn't particularly going for psychedelic, but I guess that's where it ended up.  You can hear the stripped back version in the piano at the end (at least of the chorus).  I thought the chords…"

"Hi Disconnecta, It is well executed and hits the atmospheric mark I think you were striving for, congratulations for that. The only place where I thought the piece lagged was that if you take out all the psychedelic effects, what you're left…"

"Very nice. Seems to capture what I know of the flavour of the times. Original in that I can't single out a particular influence. A nice production. Sounds like the kind of thing artists of the 60s did on a 4- or 8-track tape recorder. Very Oz…"

I wrote music many years ago with two synths and a hardware sequencer and always wanted to get back to it. Finally here I am! Luckily still have most of my old MIDI data. I'm revamping my old pieces as well as writing new ones.

I play piano, but am out of practice now. Aside from occasional vocals, my pieces are all virtual, but I try to make them sound like real instruments. I've got a couple of full production vocal tracks, some ragtime/boogie pieces, and some solo piano pieces in various styles.

It's all over the place, which is partly why I've gone with the name Disconnectica.
