"Darn That Dream" - member recording

Hi,I have posted another solo Jazz piano tune here and at my website. I would be glad to answer questions from anyone whether you yourself are a Jazz player or if you play a different genre. I also welcome any kind of critique, positive or negative. To the moderators: I hope that posting solo Jazz piano improvisations is acceptable within the rules of the forum. I realize that it is requested that members post a written attachment along with the downloaded audio. Not everything that I play is…See More

Solo Jazz Piano interpretation of "You Must Believe In Spring"

This is my first post here and I am curious as to what the acceptance of Jazz is on this site. The recording that I am posting is my version of "You Must Believe In Spring" by Michel Legrand. My biggest influence in music is Bill Evans. By listening to him and transcribing much of his music I have been able to find a way to be content with the piano (most of the time....). This recording is somewhat subdued as I only want to "quietly" introduce myself here. Currently, I am working on "Darn That…See More

About Me (MUST be more than 10 words to be approved):
I attended the Jazz studies program at North Texas State University in the 80's. I am 59 and I used to be a full time working musician. I stopped playing (practicing) about 12 years ago and then started practicing again about 5 or 6 years ago. I do not work any longer as a gigging musician.

I have only written about 20 pieces and pretty much have taught myself composition. Much of my knowledge of notation has come from a lot of transcribing. In addition to my own pieces I do arrangemnets of Jazz standards. All of the above is in the realm of solo Jazz piano. I created my own website but at this time it does not have any music posted as I recently acquired some good recording equipment and am in the process of learning how to use it just for recording a grand piano. I would like to be able to post some of my original pieces, my arrangements of some Jazz standards and be able to ask questions about notation.

I visted your website and found your excellent work.

In the past few years, I have become best of friends with a good jazz pianist, who plays constantly - whenever there is a board with keys on it. He is talented, like you are. I know how hard it is to accomplish what you do, because I looked into it myself (via John Mehegan's books).

I hope things are going well. peace
