I am a composer/arranger/conductor working in film & television. I also freelance as a jazz saxophonist and I lead my own 17-piece jazz orchestra. I teach jazz composition and arranging at the Juilliard school in NYC.
Just an update vis a vis the NW windpassers new CD I'm recording @ the end of May: This time, I've got another NYC connection -I've convinced Jerry Dodgion to come out and play lead alto for the sessions! I'm hoping a bit of the old Thad and Mel vibe rubs off on the band this time around!
Bluelonius was the LA band. The bass player was Tom Warrington and the lead alto was Lanny Morgan
( along with a whole herd of LA usual suspects.)
Chuck is still teaching up here @ WWU, but my usual bass player in the NW band is Chuck Deardorf from Seattle.
Found your band on you toob - again, really nice mainstream Basieish stuff . At least , you have the luxury of being able to do some live performances to keep the guys tuned in . In my case, the "bands" are spread all up and down the west coast and have necessitated my projects basically being studio recordings when I can get the proper guys corraled for a few days -( hence the NW /SW names on my CDs )
