About the Music: Any work written for piano is very personal since I am a pianist and I primarily compose through improvisation at the keyboard. “Second Praise” is an experimental piece that focuses…Continue

Une ballade with melodies (just to keep myself writing)

Started this discussion. Last reply by OscoBosco yesterday. 5 Replies

Again going for the minimalist style, I tried to include a lot of different melodies in this ballad that create an overall sense of infinity and creativity. It's got a somber mood filled with little…Continue

"Quite lovely, very well done. Not sure what is meant by minimalist style; I would not characterize it at all as such. It does have that "songs without words" feel to it, so I too would compare it more with Felix, as opposed to Phillip. But…"

Ali Riza SARAL replied to OscoBosco's discussion My original violin prelude inspired by Bach Chaconne
"I liked your work.  Easily listenable, perceptible. Enjoyable but also beautiful. The change of tempo comes at the right place and it is used only once so it is not overused. To me it sounded: Full of liveliness with some sorrow. Thank…"

"Well written and very well played Osco, you can be proud of this.  Others have mentioned tempo changes and melodies and I don't disagree really but this all works pretty well I think especially for a first attempt at a difficult…"

"Hello Oscar, I listened with pleasure. Is this meant as a one-part sonata with "inner movements"? I must confess that I still have some problems to get at the inner structure of the piece but will keep on listening ... To some extend, I…"

"Hi Oscar, I listened to it twice. Since I don't use and don't know the Sonata form, I can't comment on that. I can offer comments on the piece generally. Having listened to quite a bit of your music here I can see that you are aiming…"

My first piano sonata with video score

About the Music: Any work written for piano is very personal since I am a pianist and I primarily compose through improvisation at the keyboard. “Second Praise” is an experimental piece that focuses heavily on the minor second––it can be found in every transformation and section of the piece. My disorienting approach keeps the music active at all given moments and I tried to incorporate a variety of textures and register-use to always give a fresh spark of inspiration into each new…See More

Valerio Dalla Ragione replied to OscoBosco's discussion Une ballade with melodies (just to keep myself writing)
"Very beautiful. I can see why you labeled it as "minimalist" - I guess due to its consistent patterns with the left hand.I should say it actually reminds me way more of Mendelssohn's Lieder ohne Worte, so we are around the…"
