Hi, I need your help! As you may know I completed Mendelssohn's wonderful fragmentary 6th symphony a few years ago:

Now somebody else said I should do a new recording with more reverb and a better mixing. Above all he added from Mendelssohn's sketches a transition to the 2nd theme which I find very cool!
So my question: Which version would you technically prefer and what do you think of that new transition at 02:00ff (and likewise in the recapitulation) and other changes (removing the triples in the violins in the beginning, changes in the Coda, ...)?

as someone who finds the Mendelssohn symphonies apart from the Italian frequently turgid and uninspired (quite different from the often excellent music in the Schubert "Unfinished" reconstruction) and this seems like more of the same, I'm unfortunately not in a position to say which version is musically better. There's no doubt, however that the rendering of the second is far better, both in terms of acoustic space but above all the expressiveness of the instruments. You'd certainly do well to invest in an appropriate NotePerformer playback engine library to make your orchestral works sound less mechanical -- the NP native strings really are pretty horrible in any slower music in particular.
If you want to improve reverb and mixing you could ask for help at Vi-Control There you'll find really good music producers wth a lot of experience who are very helpful.
Thank you for your responses. Now please compare also the former Andante version in 11:10 of the YT Video link above https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0dFe2nBn_s&t=148s and this new version with the revision of my friend: www.gerdprengel.de/Mendelssohn_unfinished_symphony_2.mp3 Isn't his tempo a bit fast - especially in the beginning? Thank you for your assesment!!
