Hi - I've just bought VSL Solo Voices, and thought that a good way to learn to write for voices might be to make an unusual cover of a well-known song. I've chosen "If I Fell" by The Beatles.
However, as the cover is so differently arranged from the original and contains a few random embellishments; before going any further with it, I'd like to know if it's actually recognisable to someone who knows the song.
I'm attaching the first 50 seconds or so. Could someone please let me know?

OK -- when listening straight after the original, one can see that its based on the Beatles tune but without being told it, I very much doubt that many would see the connection to be honest. Obviously your harmonic world is very different (and, to be frank, quite intriguing so I'd like to hear the whole piece!)
Thanks a lot David. Yes, maybe I'll raise the volume of the melody line slightly - that might help it a bit, at least for someone who knows the original (it was actually much louder before and stood out too much and I think I've over-corrected...). Yes, the harmonic style took me by surprise too - I wasn't expecting it. Not sure where it's going to go from here. I'll post the full track in the forum here when it's finished.
