Elegy on a most beautiful Beethoven melody sketch

Last year I wrote this elegy but was not satisfied with the slow strings from NotePerformer. Now I discovered that the slow strings from musescore 4 are much more beautiful. What do you think of this work (and the recording):  https://youtu.be/H2VmrGL_KfQ?si=C-1pCDejk4k8zd_t

  • it's not hard to improve on the slow strings in NotePerformer which Musescore certainly does. I'm not sure how you managed to combine these with NP as I thought Muse Sounds could only be used from within Musescore which doesn't support other VST's?

I'm not entirely sure of the merits of dredging up obscure fragments by Beethoven which have probably been neglected for a reason but you've made quite a charming arrangement of this - particularly in the quieter section towards the end - the first violin pizz are quite interesting.

    • I mixed the Noteperformer part and the musescore  strings via audacity with the wave files of both...

      • ok -- I suspected something of the sort. You did quite a nice job of it!

    • did you hear these strings in https://youtu.be/CtoYm6BZ_i0?si=UeX4ATGSJaf2TFKQ ? They are just sooo wonderful and I feel I must re-record a lot of my former recordings! Unfortuneately the fast strings of musescore 4 do not sound so well ...

      • NotePerformer in general is better with faster than slower music and is better with as little for strings as possible cry. Certainly I much prefer listening to your fugues with Musescore. I think Musescore 4 is a quite important development, particularly in the field of music education though obviously the limitation from the point of view of playback is that you don't have a free choice of VST instruments and not everything always works as well as the slower strings.
