Old collaborative project from the old forum (2015)

Back in 2015, a bunch of us eclectic composers from the old forum got together to do a collaborative project: a set of variations on Bach's BWV 140.  Each volunteer would take the theme of BWV 140 and write one or more variations on it, in any style, any instrumentation.  Then one of us (IIRC Bob Porter) pasted it together with the original music of BWV 140, in an order that more-or-less makes somewhat some sort of sense.

Yesterday in a fit of nostalgia I was poking around old dusty folders on my PC, and found a copy of the audio file that Bob had made for this project.  Since the old forum is now no more, and I may be the last one who still has a copy of this project, I thought I'd post it for posterity (and nostalgia).  I even had a file labelling who was guilty of making which variation(s) (many of us wrote more than one variation, put in various positions):

  1. Bach's original BWV 140 theme
  2. H.S. Teoh: a minor key bombastic variation that Bob, et al, decided was a good way to introduce the eclectic variations that are to follow.
  3. Socrates Arvanitakis: two variations in pop-ish style.
  4. OOO (the infamous "Ondib"): two rather weird-sounding (and probably trollish) variations. It was weird back in the day, but in retrospect it was pretty funny. And trollish. But it is what it is.
  5. John Driscoll: modern piano variation
  6. John Driscoll: more classical piano variation
  7. H.S. Teoh: fugato.
  8. Roger Stancill: piano
  9. Fred Zinos: piano
  10. Roger Stancill: piano, major key
  11. Roger Stancill: piano, minor key
  12. Michael Lofting: flute + piano
  13. Fred Zinos: piano, 3 sections
  14. Michael Lofting: trumpet + piano
  15. Mariza Costa-Cabral: piano, baroque-ish counterpoint
  16. Fred Zinos: brass, 2 sections, quotes Rite of Spring
  17. Michael Lofting: piano + quartet
  18. John Driscoll: chamber strings
  19. Gregorio X: I. romantic piano improv; II. slower improv
  20. Bob Porter: rock, conclusion.

Some of you here participated in this, hope you enjoyed the nostalgia. ;-)  The audio track can be found in the Music section, under "Composers from the old forum".
