This piece is done and dusted but seeing that it has cropped up in another thread, I thought I might as well post it. I'm always happy to hear good, indifferent and bad critiques from fellow composers so I hope some of you can find the time to have a listen. It's in 9 movements, all no longer than 3-4 mins so it can be taken in piecemeal. I think this might have also been posted on the old CF forum back in the day so apologies if it's something you've heard already. Influenced by Bach's Partitas, I concocted my own take on well known dances that have been with us for centuries, spiced up with a not so Bachian approach to harmony whilst still remaining tonal. I hope you like them, just don't bother trying to dance to them, put on some Taylor Swift or Max Bygraves instead.

Thanks for listening and yep, I admit to being a fan of Britten's music. I love the Simple Symphony of course, who doesn't? That said, it wasn't in my head at the time of writing but who knows what the subconscious is up to with influences as we compose. Mine was more likely trying to persuade me to crack open a beer or to go and watch a sci fi movie - anything rather than put myself through the hassle of actually composing (again). Someone once said that one should only compose when the not composing becomes a nuisance - I agree, the nuisance becomes an itch for which there is no balm apart from, well, the hassle of composing.
I hope to hear some of your music here in the near future.
