You need to be a member of composersforum to add comments!

one for HS, I think (fugues don't interest me in general unless they also have an emotional content)
A fugue! I feel like I'm obligated to respond 😅 Maybe later when I get some free time.
I guess you never got any free time
. And if the members who would like to join but can't because there is no longer any moderation here, I guess we have to declare this site, like various other previously good composer sites, moribund.
So there has been no reply from Kris at all, all this time?
no
Before this site goes down entirely, this might be a good time to solicit input on alternative sites that similayly cater to a broad range of compositional styles and skill levels.
There used to be quite a few of them, but this was one of the most active before its previous maintainer threw in the towel and it went offline for about a month or two. By the time Kris noticed that it had gone offline, most of the previous members had moved on, and the old content had been entirely lost to the ether. He resurrected it at his own expense, in the hopes that previous members would return, but alas, only a small fraction of the previous active members did.
The other site that used to be active is the Sons of Sibelius forum. However, as I understand it, that site also underwent a change of hands when its former admin retired and decided to focus on other things. I don't know who, if anyone, took over the reins, but from what I've heard it has also slowed down significantly since its glory days.
There are also a smattering of other similar sites, some which branched from the previous iteration of this one. Kris was involved in one of them and another former member was involved with the other. Both of these had already become moribund even before this forum underwent its change of hands. There are a couple of others that I stumbled upon years ago, but I haven't keep up with them and no longer have links to them. All of them are either very small, or moribund, or only cater to a rather specific segment of composers, or all of the above.
So no, I don't know of any other site similar to this one that isn't already moribund or on its last legs, unfortunately.
I used to be active on Sons of Sibelius and really liked it some years ago -- there was quite a bit happening including competitions. Unfortunately, only one person still seems to post there. it's strange that general sites for composers like this one seem rather rare these days. More people probably post on Talk Classical but that is not a composer-specific forum (and is not to everyone's taste as it attract more than its fair share of eccentrics). In theory notation software specific sites like Dorico or Sibelius might be an answer but in practice, few people on these forums seem to post their own works for whatever reason.
There's a fair bit of postings in the Musescore forums, but most of it isn't composition-related. Also, I don't use Musescore so I don't really feel like I'd belong there anyway.
Yes, as MuseScore is surely now the most popular notation software, I'd expect the forum to be pretty active. But, as you say, most posts in notation software fora are of a technical nature and many composers don't want to post works there, especially scores.
