I have to admit - I forgot I was a member here and need to get back to checking out posts and responding here.  In a bit of a "sorry!" to everyone - here's a track I finished last November.   It's very short - intentionally so.

The recording started with a piano piece - mostly an improv - and this is the 2nd take.   I then made four copies of that piano track in Logic... each with a prgressively heavier layer of processing... delay, pitch shift, time shift, distortion, reverb, etc...  moved in different areas of the stereo field, never overpowering the piano front and center.  Finally, I added the 'drone' - which is a Juno 106 noise patch going through two aux sends on my mixer - to a dual delay and a reverb unit - and the returns going into new channels.  That way I can control feedback loops of each effect and cross-feedback.  It's very controlled.   The 'rushing' sound - the ebb and flow - of the drone is the feedback - not the synth or effects knobs.

I hope you enjoy it.

  • Emily - thank you for listening!  It makes me very happy you get this feeling when listening!

Doug - thanks also for listening!  Yes, I'm a Brian Eno 'fan' - On Land is very good.  My all time favorite of his is Harold Budd / Brian Eno - The Pearl.  Simply sublime piano and atmospheres.

  • NIce. I think you'd like Eno's Ambient series. I just ordered On Land.
  • I've been listening to chinook winds all winter - this reminds me of just going through my life with nature's constant roaring always in the background.  I loved hearing this, very beautiful!
