My piece for bassoon, "Departure, 10:49pm", was performed to a warm reception on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be there - I have bronchitis! The Marketing Director of the ACO told me that people really loved the piece, which I'm happy about :) And there's a recording coming my way, which I'll put up as soon as I get it.
In other news, I finally completed a choral piece I'd started last January called "Kono Yoru (This Night)", which along with two other works ("Live Love", posted here, and "The Temple Bells", being performed in June by C4), was just mailed off to the POLYPHONOS
competition in Seattle. The prize - 1k and a commission! And the deadline is today, unless you have scores ready don't think about entering. :)
This summer, I'm planning on writing a chamber piece, but for now I'm taking a well-deserved break!
