I have started to migrate my composition PC "farm" to MADI.
My current setup uses the maximum of 12 stereo inputs into my DAW via the RME HDSP9656 card (three Adat inputs = 24 mono channels). I was running into track limits with this setup and also wanted to have more separate outputs groups from my three Gigastudio PCs.
So I decided to take the plunge and start building a new DAW (quadcore) and later use the current DAW as fourth GigaStudio PC. I am also in the process of rebuilding all the PCs into very nice silent 19" Antec Take 3 cases. I read somewhere that using a QuadCore with the RME MADI card is faster than a ProTools HD system! The new DAW ("Maximus") has a 500 Gb Raid 1 data drive. For video I use a silent GeForce card to drive my two new Samsung 22" screens and hope to add a beamer in the coming months.
I can't wait to have it all working! This will surely be a very professional setup, with up to 32 stereo input channels in the Cubase mixer.
