Sahir Haider replied to Albert de la Fuente's discussion A little symphonic poem
"What a marvellous piece !  I loved most of it. The transitions are so seamless. Your gift for painting pictures through music is quite evident.  The only tiny bit of "critique" I have is regarding the ending which I found a…"

Sahir Haider replied to Albert de la Fuente's discussion My first symphony
"This is a really enjoyable piece !  I tend to relate to the early 20th century aesthetic quite a lot ( and jazzy influences too) and a lot of my favourite composers are from that period, so I knew if this was well done, I'd  most…"

Sahir Haider replied to Dane Aubrun's discussion Waltz - 1'50"
"Dane, I think the idea of using bass clarinet instead of bassoon is very refreshing and effective. I actually had the opening theme of your waltz in my head today when I woke up. One way to measure the success of a piece is how much a listener wants…"

Sahir Haider replied to Dane Aubrun's discussion Waltz - 1'50"
"One of the wonderful things about this piece is how you achieve the desired effect with such economy of means. I could almost imagine Webern writing a tonal waltz and coming up with something like this !  I particularly liked the oboe and bass…"

"Good stuff man !  It's almos as if you're incapable of writing boring music :D .  I'm assuming you've already heard the film music of Johnny Greenwood ? He also utilizes stricts to remarkable effects."

Tarun Prajapat replied to Sahir Haider's discussion Mood River - for solo piano
"Hi Sahir, Those trills in the opening seconds and I knew it was going to be yet another masterful display of dancing keys! Truly brilliant. I'm becoming a fan. All the best"

Sahir Haider replied to Sahir Haider's discussion The Drifting Waltz - for solo piano
"Wow, Thank you ! That's a great compliment really. I worked really hard on the composition as well as the playing ( which isn't 100% to my satisfaction, but I gotta let go at some point), so great to hear you liked it !  I actually…"

Tarun Prajapat replied to Sahir Haider's discussion The Drifting Waltz - for solo piano
"Hi Sahir, If you'd take a comment from someone who doesn't know how to play the piano; If I was driving and listening to classic fm and this popped up, I'd have to park up, close my eyes, and just appreciate this beautiful piece of…"

Sahir Haider replied to Tarun Prajapat's discussion Aarushi - Her Curiosity
"I like this one too, but your other piece had more of an impact on me.  I could be completely off here, but this piece also reminded me of some music by Olafur Arnalds. "

Sahir Haider replied to Tarun Prajapat's discussion My first post - "Aarushi - Spirit of Time"
"Hi Tarun, This is absolutely sublime. In 2 minutes, you've set the mood and  it has an immediate effect of transporting one to a distant land and time. So yes, I think the music fits perfectly with your description. But honestly, I could…"

I'm an amateur and completely self-taught composer. I've been playing the piano and improvising on it for many years, but have just recently started creating "exact" compositions and notating it down. Some of my favorite composers, and therefore influences on my own pieces would be Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Chopin, Messiaen, Ligeti, Bartok, Schnittke, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, Berg, Liszt.. The list is much longer, but these are a few of the names most important to me. I hope to be composing a lot more in the future and expanding into an orchestral composer eventually.
