Hello everyone,I'd like to share a short piano piece I've composed in here for your feedback. While I've been composing themes and improvising on the piano for many years, this is the first time I've…Continue
"This is accomplished writing ! And yes I agree with Gav's comment that I feel with this piece you've broken into new grounds for yourself ( based on having a few other pieces of yours). I particularly liked the "Breakout"…"
"Definitely not boring.. Infact quite engaging in several parts. I have to agree with the other commenters regarding the ending being too abrupt. Maybe that was intentional, but still doesn't seem to work well for me.
The piece reminded me a bit…"
"Thank you so much for your encouraging feedback Michael !! Yes, you're correct in that Debussy is a major influence in this piece. So is Ravel and,to an extent, Prokofiev and even a bit of Gershwin.
Funny about the "learn to play…"
"Amazing playing, Sahir, not to mention composing! I detect some Debussy, in those cool altered chords; as well as some of the more playful sequences, as in some of his Preludes.
I saw an add on the sidebar while listening: Learn To Play Piano…"
"Hi Jan- Frederik,
This is actually a really good piano work. I'm quite sure Schoenberg's works were an inspiration to you but I also feel this to be slightly reminiscient of Hindemith's piano works such as Ludus Tonalis and…"
Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm really glad to hear you think I achieved my intended goals in this piece. By "technical part" are you referring to the playing of the piece, or are you referring to creating…"
I think you achieved well what you wanted. I can feel a slow change of mood and especially musical style in the piece here and there (sometimes its chopinesque, then seems to float to modernity - early Schönberg?). But this is hold…"
Hello everyone,I'd like to share a short piano piece I've composed in here for your feedback. I'm a completely self-taught composer, and so any feedback here will be really helpful in order for me to assess my own compositional skills. So, here's a video of me playing my own piece entitled "The Drifting Waltz" alongside the score. You will…See More

I'm an amateur and completely self-taught composer. I've been playing the piano and improvising on it for many years, but have just recently started creating "exact" compositions and notating it down. Some of my favorite composers, and therefore influences on my own pieces would be Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Chopin, Messiaen, Ligeti, Bartok, Schnittke, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, Berg, Liszt.. The list is much longer, but these are a few of the names most important to me. I hope to be composing a lot more in the future and expanding into an orchestral composer eventually.
