- Hi, my name is Jean-Luc Thomas, im an aspiring singer/songwriter. I have a huge passion for music of all kinds, but i seem to freely flow between songwriting and more serious composition.
I dont have any sort of musical education outside of some long passed piano basics from a wonderful teacher Vanessa Williams ( not to be confused by one of singing fame)
I play by ear, and find the process of making music (specifically digitally) exhilarating. I've played piano since i was about 11-12, so ive been at it quite a while, being that i am 21 (going on 22 this august 3rd)
Some of my major influences are classic video game music, which i have had the joy of listening to in my childhood.
John Williams, DUH.
I love me some prog rock, Spock's Beard, Neal Morse, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, Dream theater, Rush, Karmakanic. All that cool weird stuff.
But i have a passion for alot of more mainstream music as well which may have the largest impact on me, such as music like Coldplay, The Fray, The Killers, Mumford and sons, Passion Pit, Gnarles Barkley, Sara Barrelies.
Music is has also been making large strides into Electronic, and its become a culture of its own, I love dubstep, smooth electronic music, Ambience.
I hope i can find a little home here, discuss things, and ask important questions, and most of all learn from people who have more experience, seeing as im a dummy.
