Perhaps only Irving Berlin can compare with Carole King as the most popular and successful American song writer of all time. Even popular music fans may exclaim "Did she write that one too?" when seeing a list of songs she wrote or co-wrote, including to name just a few of the more popular ones Chains, Don't Bring Me Down, Don't Say Nothin Bad (About My Baby,) Go Away Little Girl, I Feel The Earth Move, It's Too Late, The Loco-Motion, (You Make Me Feel) LIke a Natural Woman, Pleasant Valley Sunday, So Far Away, Up On the Roof, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, and You've Got A Friend. For Americans of my generation it could be said that her album Tapestry was the sound track of the 1970s.
