"Thanks Marius. It's definitely a subjective thing. And yes, it's really hard to get the full impact of the work w/out it's visual component. I hear what you are saying about the melodic focus of v1 - it's the nature of the beast, and you have to…"

Thanks for listening!"

"Hi Harpsichordal,

Thanks for checking it out, and for your comments!

I agree, it would have been much more engaging and informative with the visual part attached - it's kind of ironic to be talking about scoring to picture without showing the…"

"Hey Simon,

Sorry for the lack of clarity; I am talking solely about doing it for film, where the ensemble is sight reading a tempo change from 75 bpm, to 132.56 bpm with a switch from 4/4 to 7/4 - TO CLICK and it has to be perfect in 3 takes or…"

Another great post. One thing I love about the way you write is that you address the basics first - and everyone can always benefit from a review of the basics. Also, everyone has a different way of presenting something, which can click…"

Thanks for the reply - excellent words of advice. Do you call places based on the work they do and that they produce stuff that you specifically want to work on, or is it more of an information gathering thing? If you are going to make a…"

  • Just listened to your piece Starport Oberion Titles on the music player and thought it was amazing! Great composing and good use of instrumentals!
  • You are very talented Adrian.
  • Thanks for your kind words about my cues, Adrian. I'm just trying to keep up with the rest you super-talented composers on this site!

  • Hey Adrian: the track sounds great!! It really sounds "film-ic"! This was done at CBC in Toronto, right? Did Scott Carpenter engineer the session? It must have been a huge rush to hear your music come alive. Did you do a synth mock-up? You saying these students sight-read your stuff down cold after 5 minutes will give the RMALA big headaches at the other end! Bravo!

  • Ha ha ha - yea, that would be blushworthy.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the new tracks. All the stuff - the orchestration/editing/mixing/mastering is me - I have to answer for all of it. :) A good engineer is something I am currently on the hunt for (along with a good entertainment lawyer) - I spend a lot of time editing midi, mixing, etc, which I could pass off in favor of spending more time composing. While I really enjoy those aspects, I do have a bit of a case of 'do-it-all-itis', plus a good second set of ears is invaluable.
  • Funny guy.....I'm afraid those days are gone
  • Sorry to disappoint you...all samples.
There is talent in TO but I just can't afford it

  • I know, when I go to my page I see the CA and always think the same, people are going to think i'm in California(not that there's anything wrong with that).By vocal production, you mean real singers?
  • No problem Adrian
