Tapsa Kuusniemi replied to Tapsa Kuusniemi's discussion "Sunburn"
"Dude, I'm just curious at hearing what people of the more classical persuation say about this. I know this track and it's effects are harsh. It was an experiment and a learning thing to make something like this. :)

James G. Watson replied to Tapsa Kuusniemi's discussion "Burning Jetfuel" - mixing
"This is just a preliminary response, as I've only listened to it on small speakers, but generally is sounds well mixed. This guitar/plucked instrument seemed a bit to high in the mix from about 1:00 to 1:12 and from 2:00 to 2:15. All the other…"

"The main percussion set i used was "Epic Tom Ensemble" from Tonehammer (now at 8Dio). They've made an excellent library, that makes it easy to get the drums sounding lively."

"Thought I'd throw in my to cents here.

I usually try not to work over 8 hours a day (of course this is sometimes impossible). I find this to be a good average where my concentration doesn't wonder off.

"I assume you mean USA Western themed music... It sounds like you may have used, what we in these here parts, call "Spaghetti Western" movie soundtracks for your model. The use of the jaw harp in "Red Creek" against the dramatic background is a bit…"

"I like it, very much cinematic kung-fu sounding. Very well mixed.
Only critic I would say is that I felt that the intensity of the music was a bit stagnate. I wish that it could have gotten a little more intense as the piece progressed.

Thank you for your comment. It's interesting you should mention the narrative element in my music. I sometimes feel it overpowers my music too much... :)

Tapsa Kuusniemi replied to Tapsa Kuusniemi's discussion A perfect moment of freedom
"Morning Ray!

Thank for your kind words. The drums in this are from a free drum kit I tried out, so there aren't that many variations of the samples. And you're right, using a fuller kit on the drums would give them a more lively feeling.
