Well, now, that was interesting.
Mozart in Egypt had extremely sharp contrasts between the lively emotional Indian sound and then the formal major key sound of Mozart.  What tied it together was the underlying rhythms, but it was still…"

"It kind of reminds me about parts of the soundtrack of the game mass effect.
I like those little synth arpeggio's but It could use a stronger theme to really stand out though. You could also fatten up and go more crazy with those synths a bit, play…"

There are two problems with this composition from my point of view. One is the woodwinds section itself, it could have been more realistic, but then, that can be processed even at the last stage..  :)
The second problem that I see is…"

"ok. so answering to your question: it's all depends on what your ambitions are as a composer. I rather stay away from giving people advice since i'm not a master ofcomposition. I see you got many ideas but in my opinion you need more workout."

  • Thank you Shivaranjan.  I appreciate the comment.  I'm listening to 'Suspense'.  I like the use of percussion, and the counter melodies. Nice changeup.
  • Shivaranjan, I like your compositions very much, especially the Suspense Sequence.  I can hear the Indian music influence, and there's nothing I like better than the fusion of different cultures and traditions, as I think that is very fertile ground. Your music drives forward with some very compelling motifs, and the orchestration is very rich.

I am curious as to what you mean by "humanizing" and "realistic." I'm guessing you mean it's more accessible because it's not atonal?  Just curious, because I certainly have ideas about that.

  • Hi Shivaranjan, I like your orchestral pieces very much. There's no need at all to put the epithet "amateur". Thanks for sharing your music! Rudi
