Quinn Mason replied to Daniel Zarb-Cousin's discussion Brass Quartet in 4 Movements
"Look pretty awesome to play. I'd advise you to go easy on the pedal tones on the bass trombone, however, as those require a great amount of air from the trombonist and since you've already got busy passages going on, those wouldn't come out so…"

Quinn Mason replied to Neil Ravenscroft's discussion Piece for Marimba and Strings
"As a percussionist, I can tell you that the marimba part works just fine with 4 four mallets, although, having "nat." for every measure near the end of the piece is a bit.....redundant.

Thanks for sharing!"

Douwe Ziel replied to Quinn Mason's discussion A Chart for all orchestrators (professional and would-be)
"Notes on the Flute part:
The third tremolo is very possible.
The note on 'Only use B6 and upwards in an upwards rushing scale' is nonsense.
The note on cold+weak in the lower register is very false: Fauré's Pavane isn't cold and many, many other low…"

"Reading this made me think: "I can't just make a living off of composing. I have to do something on the side at least and make music a hobby." I may become a history major or something."

Quinn Mason replied to Cold Composer's discussion Piano Solo
"C.C,

  • Hi Quinn,

I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to listen and give some feedback on my first project. Being new in the community, I wasn't expecting many comments, I am very glad some people actually listen to what I did.

    See you around

  • Thank you Quinn!  I feel quite welcome here now.  Glad you liked my guitar miniature.  I wrote it when I was about 17.  I have 39 more, that I hope to notate and upload eventually.  Thanks for your kind comment!  Now I feel very motivated!

  • Thank you Quinn.  I've been working on something this afternoon.  Not sure how to upload yet but will have a go at that shortly.  So glad I found this place.  Thanks for making me feel so welcome.
