Phillip Lovgren replied to Timothy Smith's discussion Sweet Hour Of Prayer
"The Shimmer effect sounded like a cathedral on steroids but I enjoyed the mood it set. At night with lots of candles. An interesting and enjoyable arrangement of musical ideas based on that hymn.

Phillip Lovgren replied to Szymon Skoneczny's discussion Piano composition - Midnight Waltz
"I was really  enjoying this piano waltz until about 2:45. It seemed like, although it was similar to what you were doing just before, it sort of became another piano piece. Maybe at that point return to the original theme or a variation of it and…"

Phillip Lovgren replied to Jos Wylin's discussion Balletto dell'Asino
"Hi Jos,
I’ve listened to your The Donkey Ballet before and it was well worth listening to again. I hope the funds are there for it’s performance. It sounds like it would be fun to dance to and a memorial experience for the folks of your village. …"

"Hello Gerd,
Like Jos, I’m also quite familiar with your music. Great work on this symphony! I listened again to the first two minutes and I think you were true to the intent one can gather from Mendelssohn’s beginning. I also thought maybe it was…"

"Hi Jos,
It’s fastlane(Phil) from the defunct Garritan forum. I’m glad to see you on here. I became a member years ago but I haven’t been active for some time.  The prodigal son returns I guess. :)"

Phillip Lovgren replied to Steve Chandler's discussion Help, computer died where to go now?
"If you get a Mac you might think about getting a 2010 3.33GHz or 3.46GHz 12-core used Mac Pro. They are roughly around $1500 on and a bit more from online sellers like OWC and ibuildmacs.com. It sounds like you haven't been needing the latest and…"

Phillip Lovgren replied to Niklas Krig's discussion One of my more "epic" compositions. I would love to hear what you think!
"Well, it's obvious that you're into creating soundtrack music which is good. It sounds fine although a little generic but you probably are aware of that.

There is a forum on the web that is pretty soundtrack centric where you can find those sorts…"

Phillip Lovgren replied to Daniel Perrea's discussion My First Orchestral Piece
"Hi Daniel,
It sounds like you are creating this music more as a soundtrack. So you're creating the feeling of this force of nature but what are you saying about this beyond that. Are you visualizing this and the your music is intended as part of the…"

Phillip Lovgren replied to GT Little, Jr.'s discussion EW Symphonic Choirs Software

Phillip Lovgren replied to Stephen Lines's discussion Midi + Audio sequencing

Ok, So you've gotten your piano roll midi tracks playing back to your satisfaction. Now you'll render or bounce those tracks to audio. What basically is happening is that the midi instruments are playing back the performance as your DAW…"

Phillip Lovgren replied to Stephen Lines's discussion Midi + Audio sequencing
"Stephen,
Another option is to export your music from Sibelius as a midi file(type 1 for mutitracks) and import that file into a DAW. Then you will need to assign instruments to each track that corresponds with with your arrangement in Sebelius.…"

  • Hi Phil,

As you may have noticed, I signed in and invited all the NS-members whose mail addresses I had. Most of them have signed in as well. (Gerd Prengel, Ted Vanya, Raymond Robijns...). Kjell Prytz was already a member and actually he invited me in.

I still have to find my way in all the possible topics and forum possibilities, but I have already posted my latest work (the Balletto).

As an ironic coincidence, the NS-forum has reopened the very moment I became e member here...

Hope to hear from you soon,

    Jos

  • Thanks Phill.

I'm glad I found at least 2 members of our beloved NS-forum (you and Kjell). I have some email addresses of other members in my contacts. I'll inform them as well about this Composers' forum. That way , we can meet again and share our artistic efforts.

    All the best,

    Jos

  • Phillip,
