Leon Riskin replied to Piotr Kaminski's discussion Feedback request
"Hi
I think it sounds a bit better, but still not really organized. Thought of adding some fat beat to eat?"

Leon Riskin replied to Angryowl's discussion How Do You Divide Your Time When Composing?
"I lost dozens of melodies and ideas because I did not write them down or didn't hum them into some electronic device for later.
Really, a countless number. Sometimes I assured myself that I will remember it by the time I get to my keyboard, but…"

Leon Riskin replied to Leon Riskin's discussion music for computer games
"Hey Steve. Thanks for the elaborate post first of all. A dedicated showreel might do the work better, I agree.
Regarding the budgets, I know that indie game makers are budget limited. But the music is usually rather simple and doesn't make much…"

Steve Barnegren replied to Leon Riskin's discussion music for computer games
"I've had some success with games for the App store (both iPhone/iPad and Mac), purely by contacting developers by e-mail.  I've done more projects for free than I've been paid for, but I have managed to get up to a few hundred pounds to do an app on…"

Leon Riskin replied to Leon Riskin's discussion music for computer games
"Thanks for the advice,
I did my share of free work, to tell you the truth. Now I'm running a business and it's more difficult to spend hours, composing something voluntarily. But yeah, it's like investing in stocks. Hoping that one day, their value…"

Liam Harvey replied to Leon Riskin's discussion music for computer games
"Hi,
Just a suggestion as I am in a similar situation with film & game connections. See if you can get in touch with students that are close to finishing their degree in areas of game making. Indie games are becoming really popular. If you look at…"

Leon Riskin replied to Sergi A.'s discussion Piece for Piano and Orchestra (no.1)
"Really expensive strings - like Project sam - Symphoiba sound really close to the real thing, if you know how to apply them.  Scott Miller said:
I thought it was quite pretty, but after a while it did get monotonous.  On the other hand, if it was…"

Leon Riskin replied to Sergi A.'s discussion Piece for Piano and Orchestra (no.1)
"Why are you working with cubase AND audition? Mixing is not only about panning. That slightly covers it.
Allays be careful with reverb on instruments with a low end registry. That'll turn up into a mashup of random sounds and rumble. "

Leon Riskin replied to Sergi A.'s discussion Piece for Piano and Orchestra (no.1)
"It's a pretty simple and nice composition. The sound and the arrangement problematic to me. Of course you have tempo and sound mix issues. The end is very uncertain. It looks like you didn't know yourself how to finish it.
You should try to start…"

Leon Riskin replied to Allison Danielle's discussion Selling Music Online
"Checked the website. From someone who's been selling his music via royalty free websites for 2 years now, it doesn't look too promising. Who usually needs sheet music? Musicians. And they are the ones the try to make some money out of their works in…"

Leon Riskin replied to Egor's discussion Against music instruments!)))) Only noise around us
"Excellent. Especially liked the idea with the bottle with the gasses. Very clever. If you add some instruments to that beat, it can be priceless. Check out my track - the closest to that genre I gotClockshop Closing Hours.mp3"

Kane Aoki replied to Leon Riskin's discussion Hard to be separated from your music
"well, me I don't... whatever happens it is I who created it.. well.. first of all the original idea was,, "to make music for them" and that's it, we're commissioned right?... I always own my music... but of course... I'll not use on another…"

Paul Glover replied to Leon Riskin's discussion Hard to be separated from your music
"Again, you have voiced the same question I have periodically. "Will my musical creativity run dry?"
I guess it is like a river, there might be periods where the flow is minimal or less abundant than we wish, but before you know it, rain falls from…"

Leon Riskin replied to Leon Riskin's discussion Hard to be separated from your music
"The question I ask myself usually is: what if I got some limited amount of ideas and now I have one less and it might be wasted
It's true that the feeling lasts until the next project, though."

Paul Glover replied to Leon Riskin's discussion Hard to be separated from your music
"Absolutely. It was harder earlier on. But now it only lasts for as long as it takes me to start a new piece. There is that concern that "what if" where/who I have sent it to never gets the opportunity to place it or use it, and then it sits forever.…"

Leon Riskin replied to Kane Aoki's discussion Titles... (My worst enemy as a Composer)
"There are no rules about it. My goal is always to be creative with the titles as much as possible. No matter at what stage I do it. It gives character to the music. Title should be appealing, special and reflect the essence of the music. Tell it's…"
