"Naw. No mid-life crisis, my daughter caught me unawares out at a lake. I was getting ready to go on a tube, so I didn't want my cap to blow off. I lasted about 10 minutes and then my back and neck were killing me. Now that, is a mid-life crisis :)"

"On the Indy piece, I will simply tone down the cymbals. I guess I spent too many years on stage standing beside the drummer's crash cymbal :) In my subconscious, I think it has to rattle your fillings just to fit into the mix. LOL."

"In the reggae piece, I have a synth part doing the chordal repetitions. I am just holding down whole and half notes and letting the synth do the work. Sounds like maybe it is not syncing exactly with the beat. I don't think I quantized it, but for…"

"I don't like the direction the US is going: the Patriot Act, domestic wiretaps, repeal of Habeas Corpus. The executive branch has become far too powerful. I think we are sliding down the slippery slope to fascism."

Leon Portelance commented on James Semple's blog post The Film Music Chord Change
"Most of the early film composers were classically trained and so this kind of chromatic harmony was common as was atonality and polytonality. A lot of the recent film music I hear is much simpler, a lot of it based on the earlier modal melodies and…"
