Michael Forbes replied to Lassi Tani's discussion Romantic, cinematic piece
"It seems like there was a lot going on in that 1:12.  I thought your arrangement was fine.  But I found myself asking, what are you saying with it?
It started with a particular mood, then there was an emotional shift at :21.  From that point on,…"

"Thanks a lot Bob for the comment. It's interesting when reading other person's comment on my piece, and then listen to the piece again, the comment is so right. The pizz -> tremolo change might be too abrupt."

Lassi Tani replied to Dan Depolito's discussion Beauthoven Piano Sonata in Ab_minor
"The first chord tells everything, the sorrow, the feeling of losing someone. Sad, but still you give the listener hope with brighter chords. I'm with you, I lost a dog too.
A beautiful piece all in all. I like, how you progress the chords! Just some…"

Lassi Tani replied to Lassi Tani's discussion Romantic, cinematic piece
"Hi Dan,
Thank you very much for commenting, I really appreciate it. That's actually true, when I'm listening to it again, that it has a sense of wonderment. I've watched only the movies, so unfortunatelly I haven't seen or heard that passage before.…"

"Hi Lassi,My first listen did not instill a sense of a romantic piece. It was more a sense of wonderment.Don't know if you're a Star Trek fan but in The Wrath of Khan movie there is a scene where Dr. Carol Marcus shows Captain Kirk her Genesis…"

Lassi Tani replied to Gavin Brown's discussion How to end a piece?
"Great method for ending a piece! I'll test that in my next composition. I often end my piece too abruptly, Oliver Newman said:"

"Hi Alfred, thank you very much for the critique!
I agree that I could tweak the attack time. First the legato notes were lagging a lot, and I guess I changed it too dramatically.
I didn't think that too many different feelings would be a problem,…"

Alfred La Fleur replied to Lassi Tani's discussion Romantic, cinematic piece
"Hi, generally it sounds nice and enjoyed each atmosphere you created, I also like the idea of using pizzicato strings, it's so refined and spot on and that context. The strings sounds are a little bit aggressive to me, I think it is because the…"

Lassi Tani replied to Hunter Bolton's discussion Software Instrumentals-- What are the best ones out there? And which are the best values?
"For solo instruments I would go for Embertone's violin and cello. They sound excellent, are very expressive and flexible to use, and btw doesn't cost that much. :)
I have Spitfire Mural, and I'm gonna start saving money for more Spitfire libraries.…"

  • Sorry it took me so long to accept your friend request! I didn't even know that existed on this site until now.

  • Mostly about drivers and frequencies canceling out each other from monitors if placed incorrectly. The most most important thing to do is to have your room set up and to know how your monitors "act" with their frequency boosts if they have any (which the cheaper ones of course will). I poked around the reverb and compression section along with the bussing section but thats going to need some special time to learn those techniques correctly :)

  • I bought the book you linked. So far it is awesome! haha

  • Thanks for the encouragement and criticism! I'll keep the mixing improvements in mind :)

  • You asked in the chat, when I started composing. I've been making songs for about 3 years, and I've been composing orchestral stuff for a few months now. I hope to get help, and eventually I hope I can help others too.

    Cool cool

and is this a possible career for you or just a hobby for now/?
