"Thank you Adrian, it has been a very steep hill climbing and working on my skills in writing music. I think i'd count this as my first real foot hold in composing music on a large scale, there is still a lot of work to go but its a start! I agree, i…"

Adrian Allan replied to Jonathan White's discussion First Full Orchestral Score
"Well done. I think you have risen to the challenge and all your hard work has paid off. Your skills will develop as you grow older but this is a very good start. For example I might have introduced the section in the tonic major half way through…"

SEDstar replied to Jonathan White's discussion Honest Opinion, Im Not a Singer
"no, that makes sense. I hadnt thought about the confidence angle... its good to hear from someone who knows about the teaching end of it...

You hear people say they play guitar or sing or play piano, you hear peopel say they teach guitar or…"

Matt Walsh replied to Jonathan White's discussion Honest Opinion, Im Not a Singer
"It has to do with your ear and just luck I think. Some people are gonna be naturally better than others. Glenn Gould said that he felt practicing at the piano hindered him and he prepared better by reading his music like a book with minimal physical…"

SEDstar replied to Jonathan White's discussion Honest Opinion, Im Not a Singer
"I know absolutely nothing about singing, obviously. Small wonder... i've heard the thing about it depending on genetic gifts to begin with enough times to think it was true...

Christ, I'm glad this chap knows enough to ignore me...

Matt? is there…"

Matt Walsh replied to Jonathan White's discussion Honest Opinion, Im Not a Singer
"At the risk of sounding a bit arrogant: I suppose I would be more experienced than most here since I view myself as a singer who composes, not a composer who sings haha (My mom is a voice teacher and choral director, I am a vocal performance major…"

"You left the chat right before I started listening, so I'll leave a comment here.

Yes you can sing. My own singing is far from sounding good, but I had the pleasure of helping some of my friends make use of their voice, and it does work. A little…"

Anders Christensen replied to Jonathan White's discussion Honest Opinion, Im Not a Singer
"As a pianist you know how much practice that goes into learning a difficult piece, the same goes with singing. Our voice is the most expressive instrument and I there therefore believe it is also one of the most difficult to really master.

I…"

Streaker Ofinsky replied to Jonathan White's discussion Musical Inspiration
"There are probably three main sources of ideas for me. I'll list them in order of their frequency:

1. Tinkering around on a keyboard. And when I'm doing that, I'm usually trying to come up with things that are out of my "ruts"--that is, things that…"

  • Excellent works!...There is a tremendous amount of talent here....thank you
  • Thanks for listening to my music and for the encouragement!
  • Hi Jonathan. Your music is great! Keep on writing!
  • hey Jonathan! I was just listening through your pieces, and I *really* like "Night Dance" (guitars). I'd love to hear this on actual classical guitars. Very soothing & picturesque, if music can be picturesque :P
  • I'm using Cubase Studio 5 for composing, and for the instrument libraries, I have East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra, and Stormdrum 2.
  • I have a friend who has that mix too, except Malay so i don't think it's too strange =) That's very cool.
  • I saw you were having one of your pieces performed! If you want to add it as music on here with Finale Notepad:

Open the file, make sure it will play through without borking up!
Go to windows Moviemaker, find "narrate timeline" and click that.
    Under input: put stereo mix
    hit record
    hit play on finale
then hit stop on Movie maker when the song is through.

you will then be prompted to save the .wav file. You can use iTunes to convert it or windows audio converter to MP3 (Because MP3 is way better lol) and then upload it here ^___^ U can also put it on you MP3 player in this way.
