Graeme Helliwell replied to Jason Sioco's discussion Where to buy the following Orchestral Scores?
"The imslp.org site is great for delving into scores and parts, although I'm desperately conscious of the copyright issues in various regions. Unfortunately if I'm just looking for a few bars of clarification, i.e. how a specific soundscape was…"

"Actually, I think there are some copyright restrictions, depending on the territory you will be downloading from...so beware."

"John's right. Go for Dover where you can as they are much bigger than pocket scores. I have the Rach. 2nd and the Dvorak in the Dover edition anf they are easy to read.

John Driscoll replied to Jason Sioco's discussion Where to buy the following Orchestral Scores?
"If you are looking for physical scores, I believe these are all available as Dover editions (usually the cheapest).  Just google the piece + "Dover" on Amazon."

Rick Waugh replied to Jason Sioco's discussion My Compositions in Youtube doesn't get a lot of views, why?
"I haven't gone and listened, but you did say your video quality is not good. I think that everything has to be very good, music, video, presentation, everything. People are wandering around, they find your stuff, or click on a link you've posted…"

Ian Ring replied to Jason Sioco's discussion My Compositions in Youtube doesn't get a lot of views, why?
"Studies have shown that the best way to get a million hits on a YT video is to play piano somewhere in public (ideally, 3 minutes of inane noodling on a four-chord riff), and have someone else post it along with an emotional back-story. Use a…"

roger stancill replied to Jason Sioco's discussion How to listen to music with focus without mind wandering?
"Jason, you really can't 'focus' on music when driving.
Your attention is already dedicated, or at least it should be.
Get a good set of head phones and a comfortable chair.
That is where you can relax and 'surrender' your attention to
focus on the…"

"+1 with Bobs' idea., as it just focuses on a simple task that doesn't seem too onerous and yet will be of maximal benefit.
In the same vein, perhaps you might want to try this. Find a nice ( or not so nice!) chord, maybe of 6 notes or so and resolve…"

Bob Morabito replied to Jason Sioco's discussion How to listen to music with focus without mind wandering?
"Maybe try taking a very small section of a simple piece of music that you like-- maybe 15-30 seconds at most, that has only 2 (or 3) instruments--like a flute and clarinet duet, and listen to that for a few times, even slowed down, and focus ONLY on…"

I consume a lot of sugar. If I cut back on sugar, how does it help with focus?"

Gavin Brown replied to Jason Sioco's discussion How to listen to music with focus without mind wandering?
"There is no substitute or short-cut. If you really want something, focus on it and force yourself to concentrate. It can take a while, but if it's really what you want, you can make it happen"
