I'm an autodidactic composer and music theorist, while professionally I'm a teacher in philosophy (PhD) and theology. My fields of interest in music are not separated from my philosophical-theological interests, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about the basic relations between tonality, modality and atonality. My (recent) attempts in composing mainly circle around finding a credible musical language which would succeed in mastering the many complex problems which are haunting modern classical music since the Second Vienna School of Schoenberg, Webern, and the later Serialists (e.g. Boulez): technical problems about musical form as well as problems concerning its cultural appreciation and function. My composing activities started only about a year ago, so cannot say very much about them. I have made a string quartet in four parts (title: Shifts), a composition for organ (Canonical Variations), and, most recently, a movement for string quintet (title: Joy of Creation). These compositions have not been performed yet, but I'm in the process of getting some professionals interested in my work.
