"a cogent work with a lovely Lento/Adagio section. I think the ensemble put forth the work in a convincing manner.  I'd imagine other ensembles would want to program this one."

Gavin Brown replied to Gavin Brown's discussion The Ballad of Sir Orangefire for Brass Quintet
"Thanks Ingo, it's really in three movements which blend together with a recap of the opening themes presented backwards in the third movement. Nothing like a live performance to let you know what works and what doesn't!

Ingo Lee replied to Gavin Brown's discussion The Ballad of Sir Orangefire for Brass Quintet
"Wow Gav, good writing and a good performance/recording too.  I especially liked the second section with the horn featured leading to the partial recap, well done!
Thanks for posting, it's neat to see CF people getting recognition."

This is very well done and composed. A sweet tune with a light heart. The Latin beat is infectious! Thanks for sharing!

Gavin Brown replied to Marvin Cripps's discussion Videos
"Hi Marvin,
A decent pop/rock tune. Maybe a Neil Young influence? I think it could have benefited from your voice being a little higher in the mix, but it is also ok as is, other than the end, which seems cut off. Thanks for posting!

Dont know who else to ask but you have responded to me previously.
I havent benn on CF for about a month
    My Page is
    https://composersforum.ning.com/profile/JamesGall
I previously posted all 3 movements of my Piano Concerto on my page (at the top) and today I noticed that they are no longer there but further down the page on the initial post I put up when I added them.
I cannot play these entries now and I have also received this info from someone I directed to CF and my page to hear this work.
Do your music composition entries only stay on CF for so long and are then removed?
If so I didn't know that.
    Any advice here Gav?

  • Thanks for your comment, Gav! Yes, I would agree with you that my composition teacher did me a favor in pushing me outside of my comfort zone. It's quite freeing to work outside of one's own sacrosanct conventions and still create music that somehow speaks in one's own voice.

I listened to Sunshiny Day. I like what I hear and would like to hear more!

  • Thanks for the comments Gavin! I'd like to hear more of your music, so it would be nice if you could upload some more, maybe some of your bigger pieces.

  • Jazz and Progressive? Very cool. Please post some music here. Welcome!
