David Owen replied to Gabriel Kovalov's discussion Piano trio- viola and violin 3min
"I enjoyed listening to this but found it posed more questions than it answered. Like Dane, I think a return to the opening would balance the work better -- then what would become the middle section would work musically for me. On the other hand, the…"

Dane Aubrun replied to Gabriel Kovalov's discussion Piano trio- viola and violin 3min
"Interesting. And a curious mix of styles.
At the outset I thought "Ah, my kind of music!" I didn't bother to wonder if there were theoretical principles underlying it. Its fairly slow emergence made it easy to listen to and assimilate. But then  at…"

Gabriel Kovalov replied to Gabriel Kovalov's discussion Piano trio- viola and violin 3min
"The name is how jews adress god.
The music is god presenting himself to the unfaithful. The light that is pure and beautiful, but unattainable to the sinners, and the sadness of god when his children hide from his light. "

Sam Umar replied to Gabriel Kovalov's discussion Piano trio- viola and violin 3min
"I liked the idea behind the theme, where the violin and the viola set the tones in high freq, and the piano gives the basis. I probably would say the piano could be set a bit down on the volume (on the left/accompaniment part), to give the strings…"

8Rivers replied to Gabriel Kovalov's discussion Piano trio- viola and violin 3min
"Sure
Getting a good strings sound is near impossible with a vst but there are some who have come closer than others, like Joshua bell violin, emotional violin and for long note maybe adagio violin by 8dio. Anyhow I always use trial and error and in…"

"Thanks!
Could you please explain more about the vst? I am using the same vst i always have. Maybe the higher register simply sounds less real here i guess.

Gabriel Kovalov replied to Gregory Michael Hodges's discussion A short and early piece of mine
"Bravo!! Such a well done piece. Really loved how you used those "hiccups" to keep the music going without taking away too much from the identity of the music! Enjoyed!"

Gabriel Kovalov replied to Francois Jenno's discussion Clair de Lune - Piano
"Awesome piece! Enjoyed it a lot. You handle the overal speed of the composition very well, slow enough to get that certain feel, just on the edge of stopping, but never really stopping. Gives of that kind of lingering feeling.
I didn't really…"

Gabriel Kovalov replied to David Owen's discussion Piano quintet
" A bit too heavy on the ears for a novice like me. Well done on writing another 30 minute piece! I can only dream of achieving that! The piece sounds very complex but still mantains a lot of classical elements it seems, like sequencing. I hope one…"

The transitions are pretty smooth and very appropriate for the change os the feel.

  • Hi there - I've just been listening to your music. I particularly enjoyed the A minor fairy tale - I'm a sucker for that chord shift from tonic to minor sixth at the beginning (forgive my rusty music theory terminology if that's not quite the right way to describe it :) ) Lovely and dark. Keep it up!
