Dimitris Chrisanthakopoulos replied to Francisco Garrido's discussion No More Sorrow (Power ballad?)
"I jammed along it too... :-)

Have you thought of leaving it like it is? Well not exactly like it is now, but it would be original and interesting to leave the voice singing "vocalise" style... no real lyrics - just vowls...? "

Francisco Garrido replied to Francisco Garrido's discussion No More Sorrow (Power ballad?)
"For me harmony and melody were always more important than lyrics, maybe because English is not my mother tongue and for a long long time I listened to music without understanding a single word that was sung. It's not the orthodox way of making a…"

Kevin riley replied to Francisco Garrido's discussion No More Sorrow (Power ballad?)
"Not really. I always thought that music was meant to fit lyrics not the other way round"

"Oh, you meant to say that I don't write music for specific lyrics?"

Francisco Garrido replied to Francisco Garrido's discussion No More Sorrow (Power ballad?)
"I write some bits of them, a couple of verses or lines... but almost all the hard work is done by my lyricist, Jenny. Kevin riley said:
So you do not write to lyrics then?"

Francisco Garrido replied to Francisco Garrido's discussion Coming Of Age/The Rite Of Passage (Progressive instrumental)
"Thanks Bob!
When composing I always start with chords and harmony, then I build a melody around those chords. I've never tried writing a melody first and then harmonize."

Andrew Wegierski replied to Francisco Garrido's discussion The Chaos of Time (Long prog rock instrumental)
"The main theme in the beginning (organ ostinato) is interesting but can be made more interesting and especially more progressive with an odd time signature cycle: for example, 4/4 7/8 3/4 7/8, or any 4 bar cycle of added or removed beats. I'm a big…"

Andrew Wegierski replied to Francisco Garrido's discussion Coming Of Age/The Rite Of Passage (Progressive instrumental)
"Hi Francisco,
This is a very good progressive rock effort! I'm a huge fan of two genres for the most part: jazz and prog rock. I felt while it was pretty repetitive, it was justified because it seems that was the effect you were going for. Really…"

Also, if you guys have any idea please post it, sometimes the better way to learn something is…"
