"Greetings,
So here is where my piece, Kenoo, came from: As an Episcopal Priest sometimes I have to attend to a death.  Recently I sat with a family as they removed a loved from life support.  I was reflecting on that experience and originally…"

Father Jason Emerson replied to Gavin Brown's discussion Romantic Music Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED
"I did write Kenoo, and it is original material. I put Issac Liam on the score as a pseudonym. It is my son's name and I often use it as pseudonym for contests that require it. Sorry for any confusion.

God's Peace,

Father Jason Emerson replied to Kevin Keating's discussion Books on theory and composition
"I like Kent Kennan's text Counterpoint. It's not too thick, but very solid. His Trumpet Sonata is a great mid 20th Century Sonata as well. Plus, you can't go wrong studying Mahler's scores over and over. I would start with the fourth movement of his…"

Father Jason Emerson replied to Kevin Keating's discussion String Quartet No.3 - Adagio In G
"I would voice the last chord vl1 = 3rd space c, vl2 = second line g, viola = fourth line e on alto clef, cello = low c as you have it. I am missing hearing the third of the chord. In a piece written so solidly in C I want to hear a full C major…"

Ursula Jasovec replied to Father Jason Emerson's discussion Keep Watch, Dear Lord
"Some harmonies are so warm and really nicely put together-I really like them, but have to agree with Jon a bit- I like silences at the beginning, maybe later when you're doing unisons it would be better if you'd develope that and add like some kindo…"

Father Jason Emerson replied to Father Jason Emerson's discussion Choral Setting of Psalm 13
"Greetings,

I get your comments and you are dead on about why the choirs decided not to do this piece.  This is a fairly short piece and I do change character and mood through out it, because the text does as well.  The psalm is only 6 verses but it…"

Paul H. Muller replied to Father Jason Emerson's discussion Choral Setting of Psalm 13
"Fr. Emerson:

This is a fine piece - a very modern setting and evocative of the text. I think we need church music that is both contemporary and dignified - and this is the case here. That said, I sing in a church choir of middling ability so here is…"

Father Jason Emerson replied to James G. Watson's discussion Percussionary Advice Please
"Greetings,

I don't have any suggestions about suspended cymbals or anything. However, I think you could do some cool stuff with timpani at the beginning doubling the high brass ostinato rhythm.  Also, you could think about some big gong splash…"
