B Gray replied to B Gray's discussion Question -- how to soundcloud
"Ok, here is how to create a soundcloud player on your personal profile page.  After a fair amount of trial and error I figured out some added information.  Primarily that you need to work with SoundCloud "sets."
On Sound Cloud:
First in SoundCloud…"

Spiros Makris replied to B Gray's discussion Question -- how to soundcloud
"Indeed it doesn't. This options refers to uploading an mp3 file directly from another location, other than your computer. Soundcloud does not provide direct links to files (at least, I don't think it does), so you can't use it that way. But it's…"

B Gray replied to B Gray's discussion Question -- how to soundcloud
"I saw your first line -- don't need to read again.  What is confusing is the 2nd choice on the player upload page (not upload by mp3 but by URL).  It says "add music by URL"   Yet a soundcloud URL doesn't function.  My assumption was that since…"

Ray, thanks.  I did understand how to get the SoundCloud widget but other's may not and your video tutorial will help.

Here is the process (that did not work) which I first used on my…"

Now go to your profile, press edit on the field you want to post it then click on "HTML" (the button all the way to the right). This will display the…"

And I've quoted some of the rest of the comments here by way of encouraging this student.  Rather than a "gripe" session I…"

The first was a tiny junior college with six music majors and ten faculty members.  This was a glorious experience.  We had classes 5 1/2 days a week, plus most of us either…"

"Hi B Gray,
Yeah I hated my music school too.  It was a California state university.  Looking back 40 years later, I can only guess at why the staff of the music department were so scornful and disparaging of all the students.  Perhaps since they had…"

  • I enjoyed the variety of your music. Thanks a bunch!

  • P.S. I also wanted to thank you for your explanation of the significance of the individual pieces from "Memoir."  I am sure hearing the work in its fully complexity-- various parts from different angles, in the context of an exhibition-- is a wonderful experience (perhaps a bit like seeing/hearing the early public audio-visual work of Edgar Varése).

  • Hello Bentrup Gray,

It's fortuitous that you just left a welcome message on my page.  I was thinking of leaving you a message just yesterday after I heard  parts of your Memoir. (I don't recall how I stumbled onto your page).  I started with the violin and synth, then listened to the 02 War Years, and ended with Memoir 01 Voice.  They were all superb, I thought.  I most enjoyed War Years and Voice.  The mix in War Years of Buddhist chanting, marching, German and Italian oratory, sirens, crowds yelling slogans and operatic aria was most effective and moving.  I listened to that several times.  The voice in 01 was most plaintive.  I heard that one twice.  I am impressed with the work.  What was the question you had for me, though?  Something about the profile page.  "Meaning?"  The page has just been started, and I am learning how to set it up.  I am sure what you want to the know the meaning of.
