There is a Reason 1min 57sec

This is the last important number from my musical drama 'So Long my Motherland'.

I have posted a number of them here:

Sailor Father's Song(It is you only you), Love, We Thank Thee,

Thanksgiving and My Mother's Prayer

Some notes:

Second act ends with (Psalm 139:7-10, NIV).

This is still a pseudo religious work as the whole of the musical drama.

I wrote most of the lyrics accept for some quotations from the Bible.

It is a tonal piece but use of percussion is traditional Turkish.

You may read the lyrics while listening the mp4.  But I will include

the score here also

Parlando (Psalm 139:7-10, NIV)
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast."

  • I would like to hear this with actual people singing.  There is no doubt the midi doesn't do it justice.  I like the base and drum remaining constand during the rising chords.  Nice effect.

It seems you're writing something that might be performed some day.  I'd certainly love to hear it again.

I don't know much about midi and sampling on the technical end, but you'd think with text to speech, we'd have something a little better than what we have!

    Thanks for sharing!

    • Thank you Douglas,

I do hope it will be performed some day.  May be after me.

Text to speech is a difficult area of the tech nowadays.  There is almost nothing

available for free or a reasonable price.

      I appreciate your interest.

  • What's going on, Ali?

I'm certain I commented on this piece as I did your variations. This new site upgrade makes it difficult to keep track!

    • Douglas has written a reply and  I replied to it.

I do not know how Douglas found this thread.

I do not think there is any problem.  This thread had gone down

without any comments, if I am not mistaken.

      All the best.
