Song for Mezzo-Soprano and Alto Flute

Again, a song I must post in a choral ahs demo version, since I don't have a singer for it.  If it ever gets performed and recorded, I'll link to a video of it.

The audio file was generated with software as a demo using choral ahs for vocals, even though the vocal is supposed to be a single voice.

An audio mp3 on this site, which can be listened to while reading the lyrics below:  Sunchildaltoflute.mp3

Alternatively, audio file and simultaneous score display available at MuseScore Sunchild

Comments welcome.

The lyrics:

The lyrics

The hunter flies
through the winter skies
so clear,
so clear;

the baby lies
asleep and wise
so dear,
so dear.

The morning's daughters
have come to bring,
where the star stands,
where the star stands,
sweetness, power, and suffering
in their bright hands,
in their bright hands.

The soft snows keep
the earth asleep:
sunrise is near
sunrise is near
sunrise is near
sunrise is near.
