Sources for notated scores

I'm just wondering if you have good sources for getting film scores, preferably complete but single pieces will do. When I search online all I get is solo arrangements. Even the songbooks on Amazon are mostly various solo arrangements. I've tried the library with no luck. There's always the local film school , but where I live I doubt they'll have anything. I'll take anything if you've got the source! Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks Dave. Where did you find Star Wars? Maybe I can look there. It doesn't have to be a film score, but I'm just being picky right now because everything else I can find for free very easily.

  • I'm looking for the LOTR & The Hobbit scores and a load of other ones. Yes in regards to orchestration and notation, so I'll take what I can find for now. Thanks for those links!

The internet has made us forget that some things actually cost money! What are you actually looking for? Examples of modern scores to crib orchestration, notation etc? If we knew the specific aim then we might be able to suggest more direct methods of finding what you're after.

  • I have a bunch for the books from the smalley orchestration courses. Plus a few random ones and also the john William that a lot of folks have.
I think if you take the online course for smalley course he will provide a bunch.
Those are cool as some have the original composer sketch in piano form and then the whole orchestrated score.

I love the idea to study film score as suppose to the classics. I mean, someone already did the research , why not build on it.!

Or at least it would be nice for someone to take the time , research and have a bunch of examples of classics score that would be good source to learn about specific film styles and or emotional examples for scores.
    Like sections of holst. Etc.
  •     I write complete orchestrated soundscores from simple jazz and pop music to symphonic title pieces. How about giving a listen to one of these. I have several on soundcloud. All are done here at my farm in New Jersey USA. I would love to hear what you think.
