Music Composers Unite!
I recently posted four books of my old piano music on Smashwords. I've giving my old music away for free (which I'm hoping is a strategic move), but you can charge money if you like:

For this to work, I think you'd have to write a number of very similar pieces, give the first one away for free in order to get people trying it out, then charging for subsequent offerings.
Wot thee heck. A venue's a venue's a venue's a venue's a venue . . . keep on saying that until you self-hypnotise and fall down an endless blackened elevator shaft into the eternal abyss . . .

I should perhaps add that the music was uploaded only a few days ago and that there have been 45 downloads so far, and that the rate is increasing by the day. 2 out of the 45 have apparently really liked what they've played so far because they've moved their copies into the "permanent collection" category.
Keep in mind that there is no audio demo capability on this site. The music has been downloaded and played by people looking for sheet music.
I may be premature for saying so, but I'm a wee bit encouraged.
Funny, Mark Taylor (jazz French horn, of Mark Taylor Music) and I were just gabbing via Facebook about analytics and their limitations.
Unfortunately no, it's not a forum, where you can interact with buyers/uploaders. Smashwords' analytics are limited. All you can know is how many people are uploading your stuff.
Think of the site as being like Amazon: you can rate the stuff you download & purchase, but you can't interact with the authors.

Can you find out who downloaded your music and possibly get a recording of a performance from them?
After the fact, I remembered that I put something in the foreword of my four books about performances and recordings and how to contact me. That might be the way to go.
