This is the beginning of what I hope will be my proudest accomplishment to date: a concept album called "The Bleak December". It's based on a moment in my life when I thought that I was going to die. The title of this song is very important to understanding this song and this album. Think about movement and energy.

Let me know what you think.

  • it started off really good and interesting but I felt it didn't take off. You seemed to repeat the same musical and melodic gestures but it seemed like you never got off of that. The music also seems to be built on primary 4 bar phrases. Though 4 bar phrases are never a bad thing, they can get very monotonous after a while and make your music a little to predictable.

I wish that through out the piece there was more of a build up to a climax of some kind. Or even a change in rhythmic patterns. Something to draw interest to the ears.

Other than that, this has a good foundation for something rather good.

  • I agree that the song is very repetitive as it is written now. I think that when I next get a chance to edit the score I'll put in a time signature change towards the end to change it up some more. Maybe move from 12/8 to 9/8.
