I've come across a call for scores which specifies that they are "seeking a song with a beautiful, mystic melody and lyrics in the the class of the Nancy Sinatra performed ’Summer Wine’ (written by Lee Hazlewood) or ‘Bang Bang’ (by Sonny Bono). Accordingly, the winning entry will be philosophically poetic and creative as it aspires to a deeper meaning."
If they really want something philosophically poetic and creative as it aspires to a deeper meaning, I'm surprised they didn't include in their examples "Hey, Paula" or "Chewy Chewy."
There is also (is this real, too?) an announcement of something called Composer Boot Camp. All right, maggot, who taught you those chord progressions, Bozo the Clown? Now drop and give me twenty, then do them again right this time!

I would've thought the composer boot camp equivalent would be, "Now go write 20 fugues by tomorrow 6am and then come back and do it right this time!" :-P
