Instrumental duet.

Here I might have a very nice question ...
I want to write an instrumental duet between me (a white man) and a black woman. For myself, I thought of a bassoon (I have a bass voice). The woman I want to render has such a beautiful deep (contra) alto voice, which is so characteristic of black women. Which instrument would you suggest? I was thinking of an F-horn in the lower three-quarters of the registry. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

  • I can imagine (hear her) as a clarinet (in C preferably)

  • Thanks.

Unfortunately, that is not the sound I am looking for. I think it's too hollow... I am looking for a more solid, full sound...

  • Well, discussion can be closed. I already wrote it. Bassoon vs viola.
