Hello all,

This is my first post to the forum.  I wanted to get some music up to introduce myself. I am certainly looking forward to getting into some of critiques and discussions.

I am primarily a drummer and generally work with improvisation. In my process, rhythm and texture usually share a level playing field with melody and harmony.  The two pieces I have selected here are built from multi-tracked layers of spontaneous reactions to a preferred theme or mode.  Some of my tracks are completely improvised, and I adhere to the Thelonious Monk "one take only" rule.  The first track is an example of this.  The parameters here are the chosen key and the synth patches that I created from a sine wave.  The second track is based on a premeditated "bass" line.  Five one-take improvisations were layered with synth and piano.

I have started to explore tonality and harmony more and a friend of mine suggested this particular composers forum. I am genuinely interested in all sorts of feedback, including production values, as psychoacoustics are also a new interest for me.  Thank you all for any feedback!

  • I hope it's not too late to say any of this....

You've got some nice tracks going on here, especially the first track (in which there's some psychedelic sounds in there)

and the second track caught me off guard (i had the earphones up too loud XD) nevertheless, i enjoyed it as well.

Welcome to the forum, and enjoy your stay! :D

  • That's some trippy stuff. It's super cool though! It's always nice to hear other percussionist's work. I'm going to a three day music festival this weekend called Eco Fest and if you don't mind, I'd really like to use these two pieces to play at my campsite and drum to. Keep up the great work!
